‘BEAT THEM’ OR ‘BACK THEM’ HEADS-UP CHALLENGE
The focal point of the week is a ‘Beat Them’ or ‘Back Them’ Heads-Up Challenge, which will take place on March 5-6 from 14.00 ET. The ‘Beat Them’ promotion will see 32 players, comprising Team Pro Online members and online qualifiers, battling it out to become the Heads-Up Challenge champion. The highest-placed online qualifier in the Heads-Up Challenge tournament will win $5,000; if one goes on to win it they will receive a $10,000 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino European Poker Tour (EPT) Grand Final package (the Team Pros can’t win anything more than bragging rights). The qualifying tournament will run on Tuesday, March 1 at 14.00 ET, with a buy-in of $11.
For those who don’t manage to qualify, there is still the chance to back the winners (‘Back Them’) by predicting the winner of the Heads-Up Challenge and winning one of two $10,000 EPT Grand Final packages. Every player who takes part in the $11 Heads-Up Challenge qualifier on March 1 will receive a ‘backing ticket’, which they can use to register for one of 32 freeroll tournaments – one for each of the participants in the Heads-Up Challenge. The freeroll named after the eventual Heads-Up Challenge winner will take place on Monday, March 7 at 14.00 ET with a $5,000 prize pool and EPT Grand Final packages for the top two players; the other freerolls will be cancelled.
In the run-up to the tournament, Team Pro Online members will announce on Twitter how players can get their hands on more than one backing ticket and increase the chances of being a part of the winning freeroll. Players should follow https://twitter.com/psteamonline and Team Pro Online members for the key information.
The Heads-Up Challenge finals will be streamed live on the PokerStars Twitch channel – http://www.twitch.tv/pokerstars – on March 6 from 14.00 ET (19.00 GMT / 20.00 CET).
$20,000 BOUNTY FREEROLL
In addition to the Heads-Up Challenge, there will be a $20,000 guaranteed Bounty Freeroll on March 6 at 15.00 ET. A host of Team Online Pros will take part and there is a $50 bounty on each of their heads. To claim a ticket to the freeroll, players must deposit $10 or more using bonus code ‘ONLINE2016’ by 15.00 ET on March 6.
SPECIAL ZOOM POOLS
Throughout the week, members of Team Pro Online will also take part in dedicated micro-stakes Zoom pools, and will announce on their Twitter channels when they will be playing one hour before they start. Any player who finishes in profit against a Team Pro Online member within the hour of play will have their winnings multiplied by seven (players can find more information in the ‘Terms and Conditions’ section of the promotion). To find which pros are online, players can simply log into the PokerStars software and select ‘Tools’ > ‘Find’ > ‘A Team PokerStars Pro’.

Team PokerStars Online Pro Andre 'acoimbra' Coimbra is well known for taking part in some tough challenges, including playing all 100 events of MicroMillions II in 2012. A few days ago he announced that this year's challenge will be to turn $100 into $100,000 by playing tournaments. Believe it or not but he even asked PokerStars to reduce his Supernova Elite VIP status to Bronze just so that he won't have no extra advantage during the challenge. Besides that, he will donate all his winnings to charity at the end of the year! Coimbra got into poker after winning the Magic: The Gathering World Championship in 2009 and he was Portugal's first Supernova Elite player on PokerStars! Today he is one of the best online sit-and-go (SNG) and multi-table tournament (MTT) players in the world! Below you can watch two videos (both uploaded this week) featuring Andre 'acoimbra' Coimbra. |

Ok the guy might be good... but is he that good? I think he's playing in the high league for too long and he's not totally aware of the donk fest going on in the lower ranks. Would have to have a super hot run several times to survive and make that dead-line. He wont make it imho but I'm wishing him luck thou.

I remembewr Andre Coimbra from watchibng him playing hyper turbos at high level, and i recognize him as the best hyper turbo player of the world. If not the best one of the best. Hewre is Portugal he is known as a man of big challenges, he likes to challenge himself to do his best in everything he does! I heard that all the money he will win its going to be for charity!! I dont think he is going to win the challenge but i admit he is going to crush the tables we will play! He is very good with the vpps so i think he will win some money!

i remember chris ferguson had a challenge on full tilt, where he turned $0 into $10K (if i recall it right), i thought that was awesome, but later we found out about the sh1tty stuff surrounding tilt, so ultimately chris was 'helped a little' in his challenge for sure...not saying this is true with coimbra, but who knows- it's very easy to push him to the necessary heights in hu sng's, we have no idea who will he be playing against, it might 'accidentally' be some stars employee

Estes comentários recordam-me uma coisa!

happy days, if he pays off and actually does it then some charity is going to be better off, and he is going to increase his profile. if he fails then charity loses out but we will know he cant master the donkey tables. best of luck, its stories and challenges like this that i like to read about

This kid is awesome! We have a lot of good promisses here, i use to follow some friends who run in to higher flights than me and it's just great to see them play, but it has a lot of hard work behind, guys like this don't joke at the tables like most of us every now and then, they take it serious and they really look at it like a 9 to 5 job, except that most of times they do it from 5 to midnight. I bet he can make it!

i agree i dont think he knows what he is getting in too. it really is a donk fest at the lowe limis, and why not just play you narmal level and give 100.000 $ too a good course if you dont thinnk abount the challange it ofcourse. but good luck too you, even if i think you r wasting you time. ------------ whith lukasb i agree i mean

That's going to be one tuff challenge since the lower level buyin and even SnG's at the lower level are hard to place. Like stated above! It's a donk fest and even if you wait for the best hands pre-flop there's always someone or most of the time someone is calling. Good Luck to you kid! I know I couldn't win a $1000 starting at a $100 at those levels.

Great challenge! Sometimes people feel boring to keep playing poker every day and need to change thier mind. I think he need something new that would make him motivated to play. I hope he could acheive $100k, and break new ground for him after the challenge.
ZheMaster | 22/01/2013 03:35:42 GMT
I really hope he makes it and i do believe he will. He's a master. Once he gets rid of the lower levels he will own the mid stakes and the bankroll will grow fast. Força André. Mostra o que vales. Boa sorte

I wish him to fail. He put tough bad beat and knocked me out in finish of one nice tourney
Jibberish | 22/01/2013 05:25:57 GMT
lol ^^ the most honest opinion anyways id really like to see how far he gets, its possible to turn 100 into 100k but he will need to get lucky in the beginning, a small BI MTT would boost his roll a considerable enough amount to make it practical and much more possible, if hes grinding SnG's it will take much longer to build his roll, personally if i only had a 100$ roll, id probably play cash tables.

This is an insane challenge which I think we should all follow very closely because if this guy will manage to do it then why not one of us here... The time limit will be interesting and indeed I hope he complete it as the winnings will go to charity

André Coimbra seems to be doing good so far. His blog is a relique for the ones who wants to start from 0 and he already won 600$+ just playing very low sngs and freerolls! From 0 to hero this shows how good he is playing poker, and lets not forget he his the best in the world playing hyper turbo and not the ones he is playoing right now!!! I recomend everybody to pass in his blog and learn (the ones like me obvious hehehehe)

A nice challenge, and the blog is interesting, i watched his blog evolution and he started bad but now he's doing good so i think he will 'win' the challenge. He reached 600+ in 15 days and his bankroll management is 100+ buy-ins I'm inspired by this challenge, maybe i will try it too
Calmplay | 06/02/2013 01:21:34 GMT
Yes, I think he did the most the most difficult step... cause it's not very easy at micro stakes. And he still got plenty of time left to complete this challenge, he also got the key that is patience... Once he reach the middle stakes level then he'll keep winning big and you know where he's going... gl Andre I'm following this very closely.
